BIG ANNOUNCEMENTS on Sept. 19th
Fox is announcing some major cast additions (and returns!!) tomorrow. They will also be announcing that the show will shoot on location in Washington DC, as well as the fact that the season will run through June.
For the "return," they are going to be explaining via the press how and why this person is coming back. Of course, we don't care -- we just want this person on TV!

Carlos Bernard back as Tony? Interesting....I'll be interested to see how they explain that.
Where on earth did you come to the conclusion that it's possibly Tony, David??
Not to be rude or anything, I'd just like to know how you came to that conclusion.
(Of course, if that was just an honest guess/wish, then no worries)
Now, IMO, I LOVE Tony, I really do (favorite character soon followed by Aaron Pierce), but IF he ever came back in a non-flash back form (which would ALREADY be stretching it), then the show would have INDEED jumped the shark . . . .
But that's just me. Hopefully tomorrow's event willbring good news.
Oh, man, I hope it's not Tony. No matter what lame explanation they will have, it will dim my interest in the new season a lot. They said they want to do a new start. It's not possible that way, not at all. :(
Everything sounded so interesting so far... :(
Oh, wait - maybe it's Logan! They said he's not dead and they never mentioned him in S6 again. It would match with Manny Cotos May informations that the story will include a guy who did bad in the past and wants to make up for it.
Oh, hat would be so good. =)
My statement that it was Tony was mainly from all the talk about how they writers thought about bringing him back at the end of Season 6. Not to mention that he hasn't really done anything since being "killed off" in Season 5. Also check out this article from BuddyTV regarding the Comic Con convention.

"About Charles Logan, they reassured fans that unless you see someone die, they're probably not dead. Translation: he's alive.
Also possibly alive: Tony Almeida! Despite dying in season 5 (and getting shot in the neck in season 3), the producers hinted that Tony (and actor Carlos Bernard) could very well return to action. In fact, they mentioned that a possible cliffhanger for season 6 would have had Jack Bauer, standing on the edge of the rocks as he did, followed by Tony calling out, saying they had a lot to talk about. The strangest part: they didn't seem to be joking."
yay!!!!
Tony's back!!!!!!!!

I don't care how they explain that he's back. I'm so happy!
FYI - Jon Cassar updated his website with 24 news just the other day. New casting info and what not.

I agree, this is a smart move. This is not nearlu as crazy as some other stuff that occured in previous seasons.
If Tony is back, he will no doubt be testifying against Jack. Tony spent most of his time at CTU trying to wreck things for Jack. They should have brought back Lynn Kresge or Michelle Dessler. Mishelle D. was terific. They have said they may still bring back Lynn, but Michelle is dead.
Jack has killed about 500 ppl and ruined (directly or indirectly) the lives of 2 dozen young kids or thier families. Look what he did to Behrooz or Kim's boy friends for instance. Is Jack abopting Behrooz or does he just not care about anyting? So someone in Washington may want Jack to answer for destroy so many lives. But they say that CTU was also dismantled for Season 7. CTU was the best thing about the show. There is no agency in the US like CTU. CTU is like a good version of MI5. This is another clue that Season 7 will fail just like last year.
24 has gone straight downhill since Season 2 with Kate Warner -the prefect gurlfrined. But Jack ruined that relationsip. Kate was friendly and smart, but look what Jack did with the perfect gurlriend. Season 6 should not even have been filmed, and Season 7 with the dismanteling of CTU does not look promising. Without CTU and Com up and running with Bill Buchanan, Season 7 looks sad.
The writers ruined the character of Martha Logan who was portrayed as an idiot, not as a smart woman. And Jean Smart was one of the most unappreciated actresses around. She did a great job with a bad script.
In a smilar manner, Kim was portrayed as an idiot from the very beginning. Normally Kim would have had a high IQ (140 or so) with a father like Jack. But she was portrayed as someone who could not think. She never had the slightest idea what was going on or that daddy might be "busy".
Seansons 1 and 2 are the best of 24. But Jack may be in jail anyway now for 18 MO or so, so Season 8 may be suspect.
